Catering!

Its been a little while since we have updated mainly because we have been trying to pull together catering, photography etc.  All while doing a quick move back to Mt. Vernon because of our landlord deciding that he wanted to try and sell the Hamden place.  Regardless the new place in Mt. Vernon is awesome, cheap which allows us to put more into savings and keep things moving on the wedding.  It will be pretty cool to be right outside the book festival this weekend, if your in the area drop us a message if you want to hang or check out the new place.

While neglecting our blag we went through the whole catering selection process and decided on Sascha's of Mt. Vernon.  The food selection and quality not to mention all the kick ass services they are going to pick up sound pretty awesome.  It was really Jane (Sascha's event planner) that really made us comfortable and that took a significant weight off our shoulders as far as having to micro-manage sub-contracting etc.  It will be nice to have a single manager to do all of that for us so we can concentrate on other things (probably something mentioned on OBB).

It looks like everything is moving pretty well and I think there might be something in the way of an engagement party on the list in conjunction with the year count down kickoff.

Anjel at Emily's Bachelorette Party

In preparation for Aaron and Emily Weller's wedding, Anjel decided to try on a few wedding dresses.  I like this one the best.

Venue Selected! (October 20, 2012!!)

Today we went to view a great space known as Chase Court owned by a nice fellow David Egan. Not only did it have all of the amenities that we wanted at a reasonable price, but David was very nice to sit us down and roadmap our wedding day. He offered advice on where to go, what to do and some of the pitfalls as well. All in all the space is gorgeous and offers a beautiful piece of Mount Vernon history in the heart of Baltimore. Not to mention there is a koi pond, outdoor garden (for the service!), foliage galore, ample space, a classy sound system, more trees, victorian architecture, and the price is pretty kick ass as well.

Getting Ourselves Together

Finished up the balance sheet with all of the over estimated costs with what we have and what we need to layout a comprehensive savings plan that will definitely get us to the wedding. Just that seemed a little crazy but we still need our first pick place to get back to us on hopefully Wednesday. Anjel seems to be on top of finding cool stuff so I think its project time, fun stuff for the event plus some other fun stuff.

Feeling Crazy.

Guest lists are not easy

So started this fancy guest list that I am going to link into the budget so we should be able to get a reasonable estimate on the cost of things.  Just after a few minutes of adding in people I knew would definitely come I think we easily hit 30.  I was amazed how quickly things start meshing together so I hope we can get a rough number of people so we can start with estimates for venues.  Apparently we need to get our name on the lists post-haste.  It was really hard to find a starting point for the list so we tapped the all mighty Facebook friends list and find everyone in your family so you do have to awkwardly ask other members of family that will scold you for never considering your twice removed third cousin from Idaho that you didn't know about.  It really helps especially if your really not sure where to start, after your immediate family of course.

My wedding notes, and random thoughts

If the price is right I think i've fallen in love with a venue for the wedding. The Baltimore Museum of Industry!! It's right on the water and with a clear view of the Domino Sugar Factory. I had in my mind a retro styled wedding with a fun venue. The photos i've seen so far from other folks are really fun, and with the right photographer it could be awesome!

engagement...story? Please tell!

So. First of all, I had no clue that Dave had been planning anything. He did mention things randomly like "that would be a great place for a wedding", or "well...if we got married we could consolidate our school loans". I had a hrmpf moment and an eyebrow raise.

We had planned our trip for Cape May. Nice hotel, ferry ride and the lot. When we arrived at The Mainstay it was a ghost town. We came in time for afternoon tea and had a chance to walk around. We bought some fancy wine at the awesome liquor store and made our way back to the huge front porch and rocking chairs. It was getting close to sunset and Dave thought it would be a perfect time for our first walk down to the beach. We walked along the shoreline and I collected sand worn stones. Holding them up every so often to show to Dave or to point out the sea glass. We found a part of the beach with huge rocks that jetted out. The waves crashing in the sunset were beautiful. Both sitting there we could look down the beach and saw a dad trying to fly a kite with his two small kids. For a while we talked about life and various other things. I was drawing in the sand and then we looked at one another talking a bit more. He then quietly asked me if i'd want to be with him forever. Before I knew it he was up on one knee and asked me to marry him. After a mix of laughing and tears I said yes. I don't really think I could have had any other answer.

Venue Findings

So we started checking out venues today and are liking some of the options.

We drove out to Ellicott City to check out the female institute and it was looking pretty decent besides the barbed wire fence.  Not sure about the pricing just yet but its definitely a DIY type thing, meaning we would have to bring the whole deal which is kind of the idea.  Looks pretty cool but we definitely want to have a ceremony somewhere other than the reception place.  But the drive and view are totally awesome.

While we were out there we also checked out the Overhill Mansion down off of S. Rolling Rd while we were at it.  Looked half decent except for the nursing home near the place.  We don't really have too many details of the place but based on the pictures and some website stuffs it looks pretty decent.

This place up in Belair looks super 'class' and very much in the style I think we are going for, but Anjel just found it so were going to dig up some info.  Looks pretty decent besides the distance.

Some of the venues for a reception are pretty cool but we kind of like the idea of checking out the Universalist church on Charles Street for a ceremony so I think on Sunday were going to go on the history tour and go from there.

Exciting stuff and the date is definitely in October of 2012 so we have some good time to plan but I am sure we will be trying to sort things per the OBB checklist.

Were Engaged!!!!

Anjelica and I were engaged in Cape May on June 8th 2011. We had just settled into the Mainstay Inn after driving out to Lewes so we could jump on the ferry across to the Cape and decided since no one was really in the place besides ourselves and the sweet manager to hang out on the veranda and just relax for a bit. Although it was such an awesome evening we decided to take a nice sunset walk on the beach to check things out for the first time. I really didn't know what to expect throughout the week so I was trying to wait for the right moment so i figured I would carry the ring around everywhere in my waist belt just in case the right moment popped up. Which it did the first evening and now I am happy forever.
